hTC One A9! Yeah, you may have also heard about the ‘iPhone-like’ hTC phone coming to make hTC “great” again.
Most of the analysts thought that after the successful release of hTC One M7 (2013) and hTC One M8 (2014), hTC might get out of their financial troubles but it didn’t.
hTC One m7’s release earlier last year didn’t offer anything substantial thus it wasn’t as famous as its predecessors. So this time, hTC took a different route to get rid of its recent troubles by releasing the hTC One A9.
Expectations with the Specs
Well, as I said earlier the resemblance between the iPhone 6 and the hTC One A9 is uncanny but according to hTC they were the first OEM to release a full metal unibody phone in hTC One m7 back in 2013. Although, I shouldn’t get into that debate but I must say the one A9 looks really premium and beautiful and feels very nice and expensive in the hand. The phone also has a fingerprint sensor on the front which is quite good.
If u have ever owned an hTC phone, you must have known how good the sense user interface is, probably the best other than stock android. The phone comes with android 6.0 out of the box and it is the first non-nexus phone to come up with android marshmallow.
With hTC, promising to bring updates to the hTC One A9 within 15 to 20 days of official release of android by google, the software experience shouldn’t be a problem for you.

The phone comes with a 5.0 inch AMOLED display which looks pretty good. As it is an AMOLED display, it consumes less energy than LCD panels and the blacks are very dark and the colors are vivid.
Moving on to the camera, the phone comes with a 13MP camera which is good in good light conditions but average when the there are low light conditions. The phone does not record 4k (not that if it matters) and records only 1080p videos. The videos recorded are just average.
The phone also has a 4MP selfie shooter which is a delight for the selfie enthusiasts.
The phone performs quite good and has 3gb’s of ram with a Qualcomm snapdragon 617.
So, the phone switches and load apps quite quickly and makes performance not an issue for you at all.
The Phone comes with a 2150 mah battery which is below average. The phone gives about 2.5 to 3 hours which, according to the users, these days is not good although the phone comes with Qualcomm quick charge 3.0 so, the phone would give about an hour of usage for just 10 mins of charging.
The hTC One A9 is a phone that many people may like and at the same time many people may dislike because of the iphony look. Nevertheless, the phone has many pros like the beautiful metal design, hTC sense user interface, quick updates etc but it also has many cons like poor battery life and the average camera.
So, if it were up to me would I recommend it?
My answer is “no” because at the same price point u can get many phones that offer same or better specs such as the Moto x Style, Oneplus 2, Huawei’s phones this year and many more. So, put your money something that is worth it. However, the decision is up to you.
