The ASUS ROG G703GX offers extreme desktop-grade performance. Along with its RTX 2080 GPU, it comes with an Intel Core i9-9980HK processor, 32GB of RAM, dual 512GB NVME SSDs in RAID 0, and a 17.3-inch G-Sync display with a 144Hz refresh rate.

Although, if you’re looking for a lightweight laptop, the G703GX probably isn’t for you. With a bulkier chassis, the G703GX weighs in at just over 10-pounds. However, its larger chassis is due to its advanced cooling configuration. And, with so much high-end hardware inside of this laptop, the extra cooling will be necessary for longer gaming sessions.

In the end, if you want desktop-level gaming performance out of a laptop, you have a few thousand dollars to spend, and you don’t mind a heavier and bulkier system, then the ASUS ROG G703GX is the perfect option for you.

MSI GS65 Stealth-430 15.6-Inch Gaming Laptop, 240Hz Display, Thin Bezel, Intel Core i7-9750H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080, 32GB, 1TB NVMe NVMe SSD, Thunderbolt 3

2. MSI GS65 Stealth

For competitive gamers who are looking for an advantage, the MSI GS65 Stealth and its super fast 240Hz refresh rate display would be worth considering. Although the real-world difference between 144Hz displays and 240Hz displays won’t be discernible to the casual gamer, tests have shown that there is a competitive advantage for gamers who play on a 240Hz monitor as opposed to a 144Hz monitor.

So, if you’re a serious first-person-shooter gamer, you might be better off opting for a laptop that has a 240Hz display. And, of the 240Hz RTX 2080 laptops out there, the MSI GS65 Stealth is one of the top options.

It comes with an Intel Core i7-9750H processor, 32GB of memory, a 15.6-inch 1080P display, and a 1TB NVME SSD.

It’s not the most compact or lightweight RTX 2080 laptop on this list (it weighs in at 9-pounds), but it does come with a sleek thin bezel design.

But, the 240Hz refresh rate combined with the RTX 2080 GPU will make games run incredibly smooth and that should give you an advantage in first-person shooters and other multiplayer games where split-second decisions can be the difference between winning and losing.

Razer Blade 15 Gaming Laptop - Intel Core i7-9750H 6 Core, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q, 15.6-Inch UHD 4K OLED 60Hz, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, CNC Aluminum, Chroma RGB Lighting, Thunderbolt 3

Are you a gamer that prefers visually-driven games that have stunning graphics? Do you want to jump into 4K gaming? If so, this Razer Blade 15 laptop might be what you’re looking for.

It comes with a sharp 15.6-inch UHD 4K OLED display. And, while 4K gaming is still demanding enough to where most high-end desktop systems can’t even handle it, the RTX 2080 GPU in the Razer Blade 15 should allow you to run most of today’s top titles on higher settings with a very playable framerate.

The Razer Blade 15 also comes with a Intel Core i7-9750H six-core processor, 16GB of DDR4 memory, a 512GB SSD, and an RGB keyboard that offers individual key lighting.

And, as is true with all of Razer’s Blade series laptops, this model comes in an extremely compact and lightweight package: it weighs in at just under 5-pounds, easily making it one of the lightest RTX 2080 laptops currently available.

This all makes the Razer Blade 15 the perfect option for users who want a high-end compact 4K gaming laptop.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus S Ultra Slim Gaming Laptop, 15.6” 144Hz IPS-Type Full HD, GeForce RTX 2080, Intel Core i7-8750H CPU, 16GB DDR4, 512GB PCIe Nvme SSD, Aura Sync RGB, Windows 10 Pro - GX531GX-XS74

Another lightweight RTX 2080 laptop that would be worth considering is ASUS’ ROG Zephyrus S. At 4.63-pounds, it’s actually a bit lighter than the Razer Blade 15 listed above. And, it comes in at nearly ~$800 less expensive, too.

Of course, there are tradeoffs…

Where the Razer Blade offers a 4K display and a newer Intel Core i7-9750H CPU, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus S sports a 1080P display and an older Intel Core i7-8750H processor.

However, the Zephyrus S does come with a 144Hz refresh rate, which will make it a better option for competitive gamers than the Razer Blade 15 and its slower 60Hz display.

If you don’t mind sacrificing a bit of weight, though, the HP Omen listed below might be a better option for you. It’s only a little heavier (~5-pounds) and it comes with the newer i7-9750H and a larger 17.3-inch 1080P 144Hz display, despite costing ~$200 less.

Sometimes, the best option is the option that meets the user’s minimum specs at the best price possible. At the moment, this HP Omen laptop is the cheapest gaming laptop with an RTX 2080 GPU in it. And, based on that fact alone, it’s an attractive option.

The Omen is no slouch in other areas as well. It’s a lightweight laptop (weighs ~5-pounds), it has a larger screen (17.3-inches), it comes with a 144Hz refresh rate, and it has a newer Intel Core i7-9750H CPU. It also comes with 16GB of RAM, 256GB SSD, and a secondary 1TB hard drive.

That’s pretty darn good for a laptop that comes in at just under $2,000.

MSI GT76 Titan DT-039 17.3-Inch 4K UHD Desktop Performance Gaming Laptop, Intel Core i9-9900K, NVIDIA RTX 2080, 64GB DDR4, 1TB NVMe SSD + 1TB HDD, Win10PRO, VR Ready

6. MSI GT76 Titan

Honorable mention #1

  • Intel Core i9-9900K
  • 1080P / 144Hz

I don’t know if “Honorable Mention” is the right title for the MSI GT76 Titan 4K laptop. Perhaps the better title for it would be: too damn extreme for most users…

And, that’s the truth. Most users—even users that want a 4K RTX 2080 laptop—either won’t want to pay the high price tag or need for the extreme hardware configuration (or some combination of both) that this laptop comes with.

It sports an Intel Core i9-9900K processor, a 17.3-inch 4K display, 64GB of RAM, a 1TB NVME SSD, and a secondary 1TB hard drive. Those offerings, paired with the RTX 2080 GPU, make it both an excellent 4K gaming laptop as well as a capable workstation PC.

Of course, at just over $4,500, only specific users will be willing to pay up to get this beast. But, if you are one of those specific users and you do choose the MSI GT76 Titan, you likely won’t be disappointed.

Acer Predator Helios 700 Gaming Laptop, Intel Core i9-9980HK Processor, GeForce RTX 2080, 17.3-Inch Full HD NVIDIA G-SYNC 144Hz Display, 32GB DDR4, 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD, RGB Backlit Keyboard, PH717-71-90D9

7. Acer Predator Helios 700

Honorable mention #2

  • Intel Core i9-9980HK
  • 1080P / 144Hz / G-Sync
  • 32GB DDR4 RAM
  • 17.3″ Display

Acer Predator Helios 700 Gaming Laptop, Intel Core i9-9980HK Processor, GeForce RTX 2080, 17.3-Inch Full HD NVIDIA G-SYNC 144Hz Display, 32GB DDR4, 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD, RGB Backlit Keyboard, PH717-71-90D9

Acer’s Predator Helios 700 is another option that is worth considering, especially since it comes with a very similar hardware configuration to the ASUS ROG G703GX. Both laptops come with an Intel Core i9-9980HK processor, a 17.3-inch 1080P 144Hz G-Sync display, and 32GB of RAM.

The Helios 700 is a bit heavier, though, and it comes with a much higher ~$4,000 price tag.

The Helios 700 does come with a unique design and a slanted trackpad. However, as most gamers will be using a gaming mouse instead of the trackpad, its a pretty redundant feature. And, even if you do find the design of the Helios 700, it’s still probably not worth the extra ~$700 or so for virtually the same hardware.

If the Helios 700 were to come down in price to a point where it was closer to the ROG G703GX, then it might be worth considering. But, for now, at its current price it just can’t compete with its competitors.

If you’re in the market for a new gaming laptop and you have a large budget, you might want to consider going with a powerful RTX 2080 laptop. We’ve listed seven RTX 2080 laptop options above that will deliver you extreme gaming performance and, depending on what specific needs you’re looking for out of a laptop, one of them should suit you well.
